"Sometimes the most useful thing a goal can do is simply remind you which direction you want to face, and then trust yourself enough to keep looking that way."
What a great read! DUMB goals make so much sense and remind me of my favorite Rumi quote “as you start to walk on the way, the way appears.” Clarity doesn’t come before action, it comes from action
I love the permission to want something before you can explain it, and the reminder that orientation matters more than engineering at the start. The idea that a goal can simply tell you which direction to face, not how to get there, feels especially true in seasons where certainty is scarce.
The distinction you make between pressure and uplift really lands. Many of us abandon goals not because we lack discipline, but because the goals themselves feel like another demand instead of an invitation. This makes room for desire to lead, and for trust to do some of the work alongside effort.
It feels honest, human, and quietly radical in a culture obsessed with optimization.
DUMB Goals, those are the c only goals I am setting going forward .
“DUMB goals ask you to take yourself seriously at the desire stage, not just at the execution stage.”
I absolutely love this perspective. 2026 will be the year I get DUMBer.
Yesss I love it!
